Remco Evenepoel has won the 2026 Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana, improving on his second place from 2022 and becoming the 69th cyclist to write his name in the race's golden book, out of 77 editions contested. For Belgium, it is the fourth triumph ever, after those celebrated in 1958 by Hilaire Covreur, in 1959 by Rik Van Looy, and in 1969 by Eddy Merckx.
Evenepoel's individual seasonal victories have reached five, an absolutely prestigious haul to which the team time trial valid as Trofeo Ses Salines must be added, totaling six victories over eight total race days in this early 2026. With the triumph in Iberian land, he now has 13 stage races won in his career.
Joao Almeida repeated his second place from last year, Giulio Pellizzari became the 178th cyclist to stand on the podium in the history of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana and brought Italy its eleventh overall placement among the top three in the final classification: three firsts, five seconds, and three third places. The podium in the Iberian race had been missing from Italian cycling since 2023, when Giulio Ciccone finished second.
