Three days after the official confirmation of his historic first participation in the Tour de France, Pinarello-Q36.5 has resolved the last question regarding Tom Pidcock's mid-season program by confirming that the British rider, their most representative cyclist, will line up at the start in Barcelona on July 4th.
For him, coming off a season that saw him participate in both the Giro d'Italia and Vuelta Espana (where he finished on the lowest step of the podium), it will be his first time with the Swiss team's jersey at the Grande Boucle, a race where he previously distinguished himself with INEOS Grenadiers colors, achieving seven top 10 finishes (including one stage victory) in three consecutive participations from 2022 to 2024.
"The Tour de France is the most important cycling race in the world, so being able to participate and try to give my best is an honor," the twenty-six-year-old from Leeds stated through his team's official channels.
"I think it's really special to be at the start this year, it's an enormous opportunity. We have earned our place and right to participate, as a team, thanks to last season's performances, and this is something no one can take away from us," Pidcock emphasized, convinced that the team's first appearance should not be seen as an endpoint but as a starting point for something bigger and more stable.
"We are a growing team, our goal is to participate in the Tour de France every year, always racing to raise our arms to the sky, so having the opportunity to be here in 2026 represents another step forward towards the goals we want to achieve," declared the determined two-time Olympic cross-country champion, who has had a love-hate relationship with the Tour de France.
"In recent years, I've had ups and downs at the Tour de France: with this new team, it will be nice to carve out our space. It's the biggest stage we can race on, and this brings great responsibility, but I think this team can help me bear it. My main goal will be to enjoy the effort, the intensity of the race, and the media attention it brings."
All of this, as well as the performances that Pinarello-Q36.5 will be able to showcase, will also depend on the support his teammates can provide throughout the three weeks - a task for which, according to Pidcock, it will be necessary to be athletically prepared and mentally disposed towards the effort.
"For us, I believe it's an intriguing mission to arrive in the best possible form. If, as a team, we manage to enjoy the experience and the effort, the results will come on their own," concluded the recent winner of the Arctic Race of Norway, expected to make his seasonal debut in less than two weeks at the Vuelta Ciclista a la Región de Murcia.
