Alexander Salby confirms himself as the man of the final stages. As has happened several times in 2025, the Danish sprinter once again proved to be particularly strong and comfortable in the concluding stages of multi-day races, triumphing in the final stage of the Tour of Sharjah.
No one in the sprint that closed the tenth edition of the Emirates race was able to match his burst, which allowed him to cross the finish line ahead of Dušan Rajović (Solution Tech NIPPO Rali), Cristian David Pita (Roojai Insurance Winspace), and Davide Persico (MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort), giving him his first victory of the season and simultaneously his team's sixth win of 2026.
The overall victory went to the winner of the second stage, Rein Taaramäe (Kinan Racing Team), who, with the help of his team, had no problems managing the situation in the last 101 kilometers today and thus secured the yellow jersey with more than a minute's advantage over Marcin Budzinski (MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort) and Adne van Engelen (Terengganu Cycling Team).
Fourth place overall for Matteo Fabbro (Solution Tech NIPPO Rali), who, after yesterday's victory (the first for an Italian team this year), confirmed his placement by finishing 2'19" behind the Estonian ex-Astana, Katusha, and Intermarché rider.
THE STAGE
Strong wind and the risk of potential echelons dominated the first 65 kilometers of a stage that, despite its limited length and completely flat profile, remained nervous and very lively for a long time.
In the initial phases, several riders tried to select the group by taking advantage of the strong desert gusts, an intent in which the Solution Tech NIPPO Rali also engaged around seventy kilometers from the finish, managing to distance about forty riders at the back of the peloton.
After this action, no one else was able to cause any damage at the head of the race, where one after another, several riders tried to break away. Successfully escaping at 35 kilometers from the finish were Matteo Ambrosini (MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort), Ali Eissa Alhammadi (United Arab Emirates), Driss El Alouani, and Yafiet Mulugeta (Sharjah Sports Club): the four, working in agreement, managed to build a lead of around a minute which, defended with determination, allowed them to remain at the front until 3000 meters from the end when, with the group breathing down their necks, Ambrosini and Alhammadi tried a last desperate attack.
After this was neutralized just after the flamme rouge, the sprinters' teams set up as planned for a sprint where, with what has now become almost a trademark (sprinting from behind), Alexander Salby got the better of the competition, surprising everyone and resisting in the final meters to Dusan Rajovic's comeback, once again finishing exactly like Davide Persico (4th).
For the latter and generally for MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort, at their first outing as a ProTeam, the week of racing was still satisfactory with a stage victory and the best young rider jersey for Lorenzo Nespoli (also second in the points and mountain classifications), Budzinski's second place in the general classification, and nine top ten finishes.
Equally encouraging were the results obtained by Solution Tech NIPPO Rali, victorious with Matteo Fabbro (who then finished fourth overall) and twice fourth in a stage with Rajovic, and the increasingly hungry Li Ning Star, capable of landing a victory in the United Arab Emirates with Salby after a cascade of successes at the Bajaj Pune Grand Tour, momentarily confirming themselves as the most winning team (considering .2 races as well) of the season.
