A situation monitored minute by minute, that of the fire risk in Australia, and race organizers are collaborating with authorities to avoid any risk for riders, staff, and spectators.
After the queen stage of the Santos Tour Down Under, there will also be modifications for the female and male Surf Coast Classic. As local media report, the starting area in Lorne is at the center of an alert warning and some areas of the male route have been evacuated today.
The start of both races - with the female race scheduled for tomorrow and the male race on Wednesday - has been moved to Torquay and both routes have been modified.
The female race will be 136.5 km with an early start at 10:30 local time, the male race will be 174.4 km with a delayed start at 11:00. Obviously - we hope not - the situation could be further modified.
For now, however, there are no planned changes for the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race stages.
