Yesterday, the 2nd edition of Monselice in Rosa Cross took place, a national-level race organized by Asd Atheste Bike by Gianluca Barbieri in collaboration with Asd Ciclistica Monselice, which awarded the Veneto regional championship for First-Year Beginners and the Padua provincial championship for all categories.
The event once again enjoyed excellent participation. The track, just under 3 kilometers long, dry and very fast, was again created inside the Monselice Bike Park and was divided into two parts, one more technical and fun, and one faster. A new feature of this edition was the staircase, a true wall with a 27% gradient.
The race reserved for the Open Male category initially featured a compact group. In the second part, the multi-titled Friulian rider born in 1995 Nadir Colledani (Olympia Factory) broke away with an acceleration that allowed him to remain solo in the lead and cross the finish line with a 31-second advantage over young Bolzano rider Alan Zanolini (Ale Colnago), who had initially managed to stay attached to his opponent's wheel. Third place went to experienced Lombard rider Cristian Cominelli (Cycling Café), almost two minutes behind.
In the women's competition, victory went to the Under 23 Venetian Gaia Santin (San Vendemiano), who led the entire race with Friulian junior Azzurra Rizzi (Jam's Bike), arriving at the finish line with a 5-second advantage over her opponent. Third place went to the talented Nadia Casasola, teammate of the winner.
The race for juniors concluded with an uncertain head-to-head between two Friulian athletes. Matteo Bulfon (B-Team Cyclocross) prevailed over Samuele Mania (Sorgente). Third place went to Massimo Bagnariol (DP66 Pinarello).
As always, there was great enthusiasm in the youth category competitions. Among the cadets, the national successes of Friulians Alessio Borile (DP66 Pinarello) and Rebecca Anzisi (Jam's Bike) stood out, who dominated among the Second-Year Cadets. Among the First-Year Cadets, victories went to Federico Ursella (Jam's Bike) and Sofia Caruso (B-Team Cyclocross).
Among the Second-Year Beginners, the Emilia-Romagna rider Thomas Vitaloni (A Favore del Ciclismo) and the Friulian Melissa Plaino (Jam's Bike) celebrated. In the First-Year Beginners category, victories went to South Tyrolean Pablo Zanolini (Gs Alto Adige) and the Friulian Diletta Bandiziol (B-Team Cyclocross). The regional champion jerseys were worn by Stefano Toffoli (Sanfiorese) and Gioia Guidolin (Gs Mosole), both second at the Monselice finish line.
In the Master competitions, victories went to Marco Gazzola (Bibione Cycling) in Group 1, Brian Piotto (B-Team Cyclocross) in Group 2, Sergio Giuseppin (Delizia Bike) in Group 3, Giovanni Parro (Zero5bike) in Group 4, and Vania Rossi (Freccerosse) in the Women's category.
