The result of the Italian cyclocross championship for the Allievi 2011 category has changed. In yesterday's race in San Fior, Varese's Luca Ferro had crossed the finish line first, but the Commissioners' Panel decided to disqualify the Bustese Olonia rider in the evening.
The commissioners in the document refer to article 19C of the Puis (Unique Sports Infractions Prospectus) and write: "...Obstruction by a rider to prevent or delay the movement of another rider..." imposing a fine of 50 euros on Ferro.
The jury's decision therefore awards the Italian title to Nathan Longhi of FAS Airport Guerciotti. In fact, the commissioners in the statement clarify that all regularly classified athletes "move up" one position.
It should be noted that in the afternoon, the Jury had already issued a statement sanctioning both Ferro and Longhi for another race incident deemed unsportsmanlike.
