We can imagine him smiling, looking at the river of people who today remembered him by doing what he loved most: cycling. Samuele Privitera was a cheerful and motivated young man (even Axel Merckx talked about him in the latest episode of the BlaBlaBike podcast, ed.). This morning, many gathered on the roads of his Liguria in his honor, and among them, with discretion, was the world number 1 in cycling, Tadej Pogacar.
It was his teammate and friend Asbjørn Hellemose (pictured with Samuele and riding today with Pogacar, captured by Luca Viale, ed.) who gathered professional cyclists, young promises, and amateurs close to the 19-year-old who died on July 16, 2025, while participating in the first stage of the 61st Giro Ciclistico della Valle d'Aosta - Mont Blanc for Under 23. He had written on social media days earlier: "My dream is to win a race one day that I can dedicate to this extraordinary and unique person who was taken from us too soon. Meanwhile, I'll see you on January 3rd in his Liguria, where we shared many hours together on the bicycle and beyond. I hope that as many people as possible want to join us to remember him. I miss you, little brother."
Many responded to the Danish Jayco Alula rider's call, Pogi included, because Privi and his smile are missed by everyone.
