It is a significant investment made by EF Education-EasyPost in Archie Ryan. The American team (still with a free slot in their roster for 2026) has decided to extend the contract of the 2001-born Irish rider until 2029, thus demonstrating their deep belief in his qualities and the growth process he began last year in his first World Tour season.
"This team has believed in me from the beginning. When I joined, I was coming from a long period of being sidelined, and the team gave me the opportunity to change things and grow. Since then, I've felt right at home," Archie declared through the team's official channels after signing the contract extension.
"This is a team where I can grow, but the main reason I decided to renew my contract is the people inside it. I feel that the EF Education-EasyPost is truly a special group, from the staff to the riders, and that's why I want to stay here for at least a few more years," added the product of Jumbo-Visma Devo, who won the fourth stage of the Coppi and Bartali International Week last year.
"[...] In my first year here, it felt like I had a best friend by my side at every race I participated in, and as I got to know everyone, that feeling didn't change. They are a fantastic group of people, and when I look at other teams, I simply know this is the one that suits me best," Ryan specified, who, after concluding 2025 with zero victories but three podiums and nine top-ten finishes, wants to better "digest" the World Tour and start winning again.
"For me, growing means becoming more consistent and adapting to the WorldTour. I haven't quite managed that yet, but I want to win and raise my arms to the sky as much as possible: that's why I ride a bike," explained the twenty-four-year-old from Sydney (where he was born before his parents moved to Ireland).
"I want to improve my results in one-day races and stage races, and this is the team that can help me do that," Ryan concluded, whose extension was clearly welcomed with great pleasure by the North American team's CEO Jonathan Vaughters.
"When we signed him, Archie was coming from some chronic injuries that had prevented him from becoming a professional elsewhere, but once he joined the team, he quickly repaid our trust by showing he could compete at the highest levels. The contract renewal will give him more time to prove he can win WorldTour races. He has very specific abilities as a rider and, sooner or later, in one of the various races with an explosive finale, he will do something special. We all believe in him," stated the EF Education-EasyPost's top executive, publicly encouraging the rider who, by signing the three-year extension, became the second rider in the team to have a contract until 2029 after Neilson Powless.
