International triumph for the Ale Colnago Team, which in Zolder, Belgium, at the Superprestige stage, occupied the first and second podium positions in the Junior Women category. Trentino's Nicole Azzetti (first place) and Brescia's Elisa Bianchi (second) crossed the finish line in a parade, demonstrating the true strength of the two talented girls directed by Milena Cavani and Eva Lechner. In the same race, Bergamo's Sara Peruta, also from the Modena team, achieved a good 15th overall position (5th among first-year juniors). In the men's Elite race, Gioele Bertolini finished 15th and Under 23 Alan Zanolini 56th; in the Women's Elite category, Rebecca Gariboldi placed 19th.
Milena Cavani, present in Zolder, commented on the double victory:
"The fast course made the race tactical. A group of 6-7 riders formed by the end of the first lap, and Nicole and Elisa were among them. As a team, we really wanted to win the race, and through teamwork, the two girls supported each other and made the difference. They are in good form, competitive, and have proven this multiple times this season. Winning the race and placing two athletes on the top two podium steps is truly beautiful, and doing so in a setting like Zolder, which greatly appreciates cyclocross, is even more gratifying and satisfying. Sara Peruta also performed well, despite recently recovering from the flu, finishing among the top 5 first-year riders. We are confident that she will do even better in the upcoming races."
The Ale Colnago Team will pause just on Christmas Day, then on December 26th at the seventh World Cup stage in Gavere, Belgium, Gioele Bertolini, Alan Zanolini, and Rebecca Gariboldi will compete. On Sunday, December 28th, at the eighth World Cup stage in Dendermonde, also in Belgium, the three juniors Nicole Azzetti, Elisa Bianchi, and Sara Peruta will race with the Italian national blue.
