Weekend with two races for Ale Colnago Team. In Sardinia, at the third World Cup cyclocross event in Marceddì in the municipality of Terralba in the province of Oristano, Rebecca Gariboldi achieved a beautiful performance and a top ten finish in the Women Elite category. For the Brianza rider living in the province of Brescia, the 8th place represents her first top ten placement in a World Cup event. These are the results of the Modena team's riders in Sardinia. In the women's race: 8th Rebecca Gariboldi, 22nd Nicole Azzetti, 23rd Elisa Bianchi, 26th Sara Peruta. In the men's race: 16th Gioele Bertolini, 28th Alan Zanolini.
The former multi-titled champion Eva Lechner, who guided the Ale Colnago Team athletes in Sardinia, comments on the World Cup races: "Rebecca had a great race, too bad about the start where she got stuck and lost precious time, then she went incredibly fast and with the leg she had, I think she could have competed for a top five spot, but the eighth position is an excellent result. The other young girls performed well, it was their first World Cup experience and we couldn't ask for more. There's disappointment in the men's race for Bertolini who started among the last due to an initial problem, he reacted well and made a comeback, practically racing alone. Too bad because without the initial problems he would have been in the top ten. Alan had a great World Cup experience that will be very useful for him. Overall, the Sardinia trip was positive both for training and for the results and performances provided".
On the same Sunday, the Ale Colnago Team, led by the other sports director Milena Cavani, competed in the Padua area, in San Pietro in Gu, at the tenth edition of the Brenta Cyclocross-Morbiato Trophy, the third event of the Selle Smp Master Cross circuit. These are the results obtained. 3rd Nicolas Scalorbi, 6th Giulio Baccini (Juniors). 4th Lucio Baccini (2nd year Cadets), 6th Greta Masini (Cadet Women). 29th Omar Berlini (1st year Cadets), 9th Ema Paci (Novice Women).
This is Milena Cavani's analysis: "We had a not particularly positive day due to some problems in the initial part of the races where we were struggling a lot. Then with the very fast course we got back close to the initial positions. Individually, Masini had a beautiful second part of the race, as did Lucio Baccini. I am satisfied and very happy with the results in the Junior category where Nicolas had a great race, always staying in the very top positions from start to finish. Giulio Baccini also did well, returning to the top ten. We remain confident for the continuation of the season".
