Approximately 40 million euros of economic impact generated with only 6.7 million in public investment: these and other significant data summarize the impact generated in Piedmont by the Vuelta Espana 2025. The study on economic impact during the Gran Salida was presented today at the Piedmont Region Skyscraper in Turin.
Speakers included the Piedmont Region's Economic Development Councilor, Andrea Tronzano, the City of Turin's Sports and Major Events Councilor, Mimmo Carretta, and former cycling champion Fabio Aru. Between 18.4 million in direct revenues and 22.1 million euros of induced impact on tourism, commerce, services, and agricultural supply chains, the Vuelta produced 33 million in immediate net impact. With 200,000 spectators, over 200 associations, thousands of volunteers, and 136 involved municipalities, the event transformed into a widespread celebration that united the territory and highlighted its excellence.
The race reached 190 countries, with 15,000 TV hours and 13 million digital contacts, reinforcing Piedmont's role as a virtuous model of hospitality, organization, and international visibility. The document "Economic Impact of La Vuelta in Piedmont" from the University of Turin's Management Department was curated by Professor Alberto Sardi.

🗣 "La Vuelta was a great opportunity for all of Piedmont" – state Piedmont Region President Alberto Cirio, Sports, Tourism, Commerce, Agriculture and Food, Parks, Hunting and Fishing, and Post-Olympic Councilor Paolo Bongioanni, and Budget and Productive Activities Councilor Andrea Tronzano. "It was an important cycling race, but above all a major tourism, economic, and cultural promotion project that saw institutions, municipalities, businesses, and local entities working together. The numbers prove it: we generated concrete revenues, supported the tourism and commercial sector, and brought Piedmont into the spotlight of millions of viewers worldwide. Our territory was the protagonist with its excellence, hospitality, and organizational capacity. These results encourage us to continue focusing on major sporting events and valorizing our resources."
"These figures confirm what we already perceived during the official start in Piedmont: a sensational success" – emphasizes Vuelta Ciclista a España's General Director, Javier Guillen. "The involvement of institutions, public response, and the generated economic and social impact show the enormous potential of this collaboration. For La Vuelta, it was a privilege to start the 2025 edition in Piedmont, and working with such a committed territory was a guarantee of success."
"In less than two years, Turin has welcomed the three largest stage cycling races in the world, confirming a solid and profound vocation for organizing and hosting major international sporting events" – highlights Turin's Sports Councilor, Domenico Carretta. "The city welcomed the Vuelta a España with a three-day celebration of sport, entertainment, and culture. A collective mobilization that crossed iconic city locations like Piazzetta Reale and the Motovelodromo dedicated to champion Fausto Coppi, involving thousands of volunteers and over 200 associations, strengthening community sense and local pride. An extraordinary result, as the numbers demonstrate, in terms of economic impact and international visibility."
Alongside the sporting event, Vuelta 2025 also celebrated the encounter between Piedmont and Spain at the table, with a gastronomic journey designed together with the Mole Chefs. The menu celebrated affinities and differences between the two traditions with creative proposals: from "Sangretto" to "Savoyard Tapas" to the "Piedmontese Pan" (local reinterpretation of paella) and Turin desserts, to celebrate in the kitchen the similarities between the two territories. Vuelta thus confirms Piedmont as a virtuous model for hospitality, economic value, investments, and international promotion.
