The Madonna del Ghisallo Sports Group, an association that since 1967 has been responsible for the preservation and enhancement of the Madonna del Ghisallo Sanctuary - Patron Saint of Cyclists, will organize the 2025 edition of the "Madonna del Ghisallo Award" and the Coppi and Bartali Golden Water Bottle Award next November 23rd. The event will be hosted at the stunning Como Yacht Club.
"The Madonna del Ghisallo Sanctuary is the beating heart of world cycling memory" - explains Carlo Ballabio, President of the Madonna del Ghisallo Sports Group - "with the initiatives we are launching starting from 2025, we want to open it up even more to the world, making the emotions and stories that have made our sport great accessible to everyone. We are doing this also thanks to friends who support the Sanctuary, devotees and enthusiasts, as well as champions and personalities like Marino Vigna, Norma Gimondi, Gianbattista Baronchelli, Gianni Motta, Gianni Bugno, and many others".
The Madonna del Ghisallo Award aims to honor those personalities and sporting achievements that shape the spirit of cycling and determine its evolution. The event also represents an opportunity to review the projects and crowdfunding that the Madonna del Ghisallo Sports Group recently launched with the goal of raising resources to create an innovative digital space that will preserve and enhance memorabilia, photographs, testimonies, and memories related to the world of cycling and preserved by the Sanctuary. A project that combines memory, devotion, and technology to make the historical heritage of Italian and international cycling accessible to all.
The event - with free admission upon mandatory registration - will celebrate the excellence of the 2025 cycling season, paying tribute to current protagonists and cycling legends. But it also wants to reflect on central themes for the future of Italian and international cycling, such as youth promotion, inclusion, and safety.
