She spent the last months of the 2025 season as a stagier at Lidl-Trek, and from January, Marine Lenehan will officially become part of the team's WorldTour formation, having signed a two-year contract.
Born in 1998, the Irish athlete approached cycling just three years ago and in 2025 won the bronze medal in the national road championships.
"The stagier period has been incredible and allowed me to make a big step forward. In a short time, I learned a lot. Everyone at Lidl-Trek has been so welcoming, and there's a real family atmosphere within the team. I enjoyed testing myself in races and measuring up against some of the world's best athletes. It was both challenging and rewarding, and it's definitely confirmation that this is where I want to be," Lenehan stated. She then added: "My main goal is to continue growing as a cyclist, improving in all aspects: physically, tactically, and mentally to gain more experience at the highest levels and contribute to the team whenever I can. In the long term, I want to establish myself as a reliable teammate and, hopefully, start aiming for some personal results. But right now, it's about learning, growing, and making the most of every opportunity. A huge thanks to all Lidl-Trek employees for believing in me. I can't wait to line up alongside my teammates and give my all in 2026!"
Luca Guercilena, General Manager of Lidl-Trek, commented: "Marine's story is an excellent example of what is possible with dedication and talent. In just a few years, she has made enormous progress and shown the qualities we appreciate most: the willingness to learn and work hard for her goals. We believe she has much more potential to unlock and are excited to help her continue to develop within our structure."
