The route that the Tour of Guangxi organizers have prepared for the 6th edition of the Chinese stage race is one of continuity.
For the last act of the 2025 World Tour, scheduled from Tuesday 14 to Sunday 19 October, a route has been designed that is substantially similar to last year's, when for the first time in its history, the Asian race proposed a total distance of over 1000 kilometers and a total elevation gain above ten thousand meters.
On these general characteristics, not wanting to deviate from the winning design of 365 days ago, the itinerary of this edition will also be centered, with the caravan retracing the route of a year ago, visiting the same start and finish locations explored in the previous season, in the same order and over the same distances.
The race will start again from Fangchenggang with a 148.8-kilometer city stage that will allow sprinters to compete for the first partial success and the consequent first leader's jersey. The fast wheels will likely be protagonists in the subsequent three days, as both in the Chongzuo-Jingxi (179.6 km) and in the Jingxi-Bama (213.5 km) and Bama-Jinchengjiang (176.3 km) stages, the altitude obstacles inserted do not have insurmountable gradients. However, the general classification contenders will not just be spectators, as they may have the opportunity (if the race's progression allows) to secure important bonus seconds at the flying finishes, an objective that could stir things up before the anticipated and decisive penultimate stage ending in Nongla.
At the summit finish on the now well-known 3200-meter climb with an average 7.3% gradient, the big names will be called to show their true colors and, drawing on all their explosiveness, can almost definitively outline the general classification. If the gaps between the top riders are very small, the final 133.1 km stage centered around the Nanning circuit presents, thanks to the 1400-meter climb at 11.5% average to be tackled five times, the terrain for ambushes and bold moves, but if the energy is lacking or the situation is already crystallized before the start, it will become very difficult to escape another more or less compact finale.
Along the wide and perfectly level Chinese roads, repeated battles between sprinters are expected, with a single true showdown among the puncheurs who, with only one chance available, will need to be ready to seize the overall victory. Last year, Lennert Van Eetvelt (Lotto) perfectly accomplished this mission, winning the final overall victory, precisely thanks to his victory in Nongla, ahead of Oscar Onley and Alex Baudin: the Belgian will not be at the start this time, so we'll see who, a year later, will be able to follow in his footsteps and succeed him in the honor roll.
