Matteo Ambrosini is turning professional and the 2026 season will be his debut in the top category. The rider from Asiago, born in 2002 and a 1.88m climber-puncheur, who won 2 races this year (Coppa Sangeo on February 22nd and in Marcialla on May 10th) and has been on the podium several times and in many top 10 positions, will take this big step with the team of Antonio Bevilacqua, Gabor Deak, and the Ballan, D'Aprile, and Colleoni families.
A professional transition that seems almost natural, following a gradual growth path. Ambrosini has a unique story: he didn't go through all the youth categories, but started racing directly in the U23 category after a brief experience among amateur cyclists, where he was discovered by Flavio Miozzo.
Within the MBH Bank Ballan CSB Colpack team, he has been appreciated for his human qualities, showing dedication to work and availability towards the team. In a world like cycling, populated by precocious athletes, his is the story of a guy who grew up respecting his own pace.
Ambrosini, who is now returning to racing after an injury from a fall at the Milano-Rapallo, comments on signing his contract: "A great satisfaction – says the Venetian – and a goal achieved after 4 years of work. This was what I dreamed of at the beginning of my two-wheel adventure. I'm enthusiastic about this team's project and I feel it's the right moment."
He offers thanks to the MBH Bank Ballan CSB Colpack team, which supported him these years, and to some people close to him: "Besides the team that guided and trained me day by day, I say thanks to Flavio Miozzo, to my family – especially my father, who supports me even in training with the motor-paced bike – and to Zeudi, my partner, who has been with me for two years."
His ambitions for 2026: "I want to continue growing. I feel I still need to learn and develop, mentally and physically," but this is the right environment to do so. Physically, I need to improve in very long distances, over 200 kilometers, so I'll work on endurance. I consider myself an athlete capable of being competitive on hilly routes. Among the amateurs, I did well in races with big climbs, but among professionals it will be a completely different story."
Antonio Bevilacqua has followed Ambrosini over these years: "We have seen and supported Matteo in his growth with pleasure. He is a guy who is challenging himself, an integral part of our project, and who is now turning professional with us. A joy for both of us."
Flavio Miozzo, who believed in Ambrosini from the start, adds: "Matteo comes from a serious family and is hungry to learn. His story as a former skater is special and shows that each of us has our own path and that results can be achieved by following our own inclinations".
