The Treviso Provincial Committee has achieved a historic milestone by obtaining a European funding under the Erasmus+ Sport 2025 - SCP program with the C-HERMES project, dedicated to sustainable mobility and cycling.
The project, lasting thirty months, has secured a significant contribution, a large part of which will be allocated to investments in the involved territories, with particular attention to the province of Treviso and, especially, the Municipality of Colle Umberto, which has always been close to the initiative.
A challenge won after rejection
"We are very satisfied with the result achieved" declared the national president Cordiano Dagnoni, emphasizing the commitment of the entire work group coordinated by provincial president Giorgio Dal Bò. After last year's rejection, the project was resubmitted with the support of Alterevo and numerous foreign partners: Poland, Portugal, Bulgaria, Netherlands, Spain, and Germany.
Decisive for the success was the international recognition of the UCI Bike Region Label, the world label that certifies territories particularly suited to cycling mobility. This recognition represented the turning point, allowing the obtaining of the necessary score to pass the first selection phase and demonstrating how Treviso is an excellence territory for cycling and sustainable mobility.
The support of FCI and professionals
Fundamental was also the work of the Roman offices of the Italian Cycling Federation, coordinated by secretary Marcello Tolù, and engineer Virginia Dal Bò, who curated the complex drafting of the project dossier. Important was also the contribution of Alterevo, a benefit company specialized in the development and management of funded projects, impact assessment, and urban regeneration in a socio-cultural perspective, with a focus on sustainable innovation and social responsibility.
"With this result - added Dal Bò - we have opened a new path to find financial resources for the benefit of our territory. A heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have followed and supported us in this journey".
A new mentality for the future
The UCI recognition, in addition to giving international prestige, marks a change of pace also in the mentality of the Provincial Committee: "Many are still skeptical about what this label is - concluded Dal Bò - but thanks to this project, we hope that other managers can seize the opportunity to participate in European, national, and regional calls, thus obtaining new resources for facilities, structures, and infrastructures dedicated to cycling".
