The first junior edition of the Gran Premio Comune di Cerreto Guidi with four passes on the Poggio Tempesti climb and two on the Gavena-Corliano climb rewarded Costa Rican Enrique Sebastian Castro Castro, who had already won a race in the Prato area in early June at Bagnolo di Montemurlo.
The winner, racing for Team General System, delivered a fantastic finale by breaking away from his 8 breakaway companions 14 km from the finish, crossing the line solo in the center of Cerreto Guidi. The race, organised by G.S. Inpa with 78 staters, was fast, with the peloton compact for the first 45 km, then a series of breakaway attempts that made it increasingly competitive, with a significant 10-rider action 55 km from the finish.
In the final lap, there was chaos in the leading group with selections, returns, and attacks, including the spectacular move by Costa Rican Castro Castro, who demonstrated strength, courage, and aggression by taking a solo victory. Russian Prosandeev from the Spanish PC Ebre Baix Tortosa team finished second, 25 seconds back, leading the chase group. Veneto rider Zanin took third place. The best and most brilliant Tuscan was Andrea Bonciani from Polisportiva Monsummanese, who secured fourth place, followed by Colombo, Sciarra, Ranieri, Cisneros, Popov at 30" and Iakovlev at 3'15".
