The summer in Alta Valtellina is preparing for a beautiful finale. From August 29 to September 1st, the last seasonal weekend of Enjoy Stelvio Valtellina is scheduled, an initiative that offers enthusiasts the opportunity to conquer the most legendary passes of the territory, true icons of world cycling, without car traffic.
On Sunday, August 31 from 9 am to 1 pm, the event continues with the Gavia Pass, another historic cycling climb that from the Bormio side develops over 26 kilometers with 918 meters of elevation gain and an average slope of 6.6%. At the top, breathtaking panoramas and unique satisfactions await.
The grand finale is set for Monday, September 1st, from 9 am to 1 pm, with the climb to the Cancano Lakes, to close this quartet of climbs with an alpine scenario that needs no introduction.
THE CHALLENGE CONTINUES WITH STELVIO EPIC RIDES
A unique opportunity not only to experience the territory authentically but also to face the new two-wheel challenge launched by Bormio, Stelvio Epic Rides: a personal challenge that combines the iconic climbs of the last weekend of Enjoy Stelvio Valtellina with 6 other less-known ascents in the territory, for a total of 10 climbs to complete without deadlines during the pass opening season.
At each summit, a totem awaits the photograph that seals the conquest: those who complete at least 9 of the 10 climbs earn the exclusive Explorer Challenge trophy, an artisan sculpture created by local artist Rasiga-Lab, a memento of their tenacity in the saddle.
In addition to the welcome kit and discount coupons, participants, depending on the chosen registration level (Bronze, Silver, and Gold), will also receive accessories and garments signed by Santini Cycling Wear, from technical socks to the complete Apex, to be collected at the Bormio Info Point, while to validate each route, simply send photos taken with the totems or share the GPX track. Not a competition, but an endeavor to be completed at one's own pace through grand landscapes of glaciers, lakes, and alpine peaks. Because the mountains of Bormio are conquered, and admired even more, one climb at a time.
