On Sunday, August 24th, the Memorial Padre Giuseppe and the Valle del Gogna Gold Race will take place in Guarenna di Casoli, continuing a now established tradition. Since 2021, Asd Guarenna 3.0 has been offering a full day dedicated to beginners and juniors, moved to an unusual summer timeframe. This year, the shift from May to August allows the event to coincide with the Challenge Gran Premio Ciclismo Oggi e Domani, sponsored by Corriere dello Sport, further enhancing the event in the inter-regional youth cycling landscape.
The goal is to offer a prestigious showcase for beginner and junior categories, ensuring athletes and their teams an important platform to showcase themselves and grow in their competitive journey.
This year, the route changes look, involving the areas of Guarenna di Casoli, Selva di Altino, Vicenne, Selva Piana, and Piano delle Vigne. The Memorial Padre Giuseppe for first and second-year beginners (single start at 9:30 AM from Bar Ternetto) will be run on the flat circuit of the junior race Trofeo San Francesco, but in the opposite direction (clockwise) and will be repeated three times for a total of 39 kilometers.
The other race, Valle del Gogna Gold Race (named after the stream that flows into the Sangro River) for juniors, will be run on the same circuit to be repeated six times for a total of 79 kilometers, with a start at 11:15 AM, also from Bar Ternetto.
Thanks to the support of local sponsors and the municipal administration, the organizers have crafted an event that goes beyond mere competition and technical aspects, valuing local roots and becoming a reference point for youth cycling in the Val di Sangro.
