Difficult day at the Volta a Portugal: the fourth stage of the race - Bragança - Mondim de Basto - was first neutralized and then shortened due to the vast wildfires affecting the Serra do Alvao, which was supposed to be tackled as the penultimate mountain grand prix before the final summit finish at Senhora de Graca.
Peloton stopped for a long time, the race arrived approximately an hour behind the scheduled timetable and ultimately saw the success of South African Byron Munton from Feirense - Beeceler, who crossed the finish line with a nine-second advantage over Colombian Jesus David Peña (AP Hotels & Resorts - Tavira - SC Farense) and Russian Artem Nych from Anicolor - Tien21 Cycling Team). The latter, already winner of the 2024 edition, is the new general classification leader.
