Today, a partnership agreement was signed between the Italian Cycling Federation and Obiettivo3, a historic FCI-affiliated organization that works on introducing sports activities for people with disabilities, supporting them, including financially, in athletic, nutritional, mental coaching preparation and providing sports aids.
Based on the agreement, which aims to spread cycling to people with disabilities, Obiettivo3 has formalized activities it has long been performing, such as recruiting para-athletes suitable for cycling and providing selected athletes with essential equipment on loan for starting the discipline.
The Italian Cycling Federation will provide professional sports technical support through its technicians, developing targeted projects for each para-athlete aimed at their sports growth up to high level. The Federation also commits to appointing a reference technician who will manage these specific activities.
"The agreement - commented President Dagnoni - essentially formalizes what we have been doing for some time with Obiettivo3, which is a valuable pool of para-athletes for our National teams and which over the years has contributed to the growth of the sector through its activities."
"Obiettivo3 was born with para-cycling - commented Daniela Manni, legal representative of Obiettivo3 and wife of Alex Zanardi - and then grew and expanded its skills to other sports. Today we have reached over 150 para-athletes from numerous disciplines. This convinced us to formalize our activities with each individual federation, and we could not fail to do so for cycling with the Italian Cycling Federation, with which we have a long-standing and fruitful collaboration."
