The purpose is so noble that it makes the enormity of the intention forgettable, the bicycle of peace, and the initiative, 750 kilometers, without ever stopping, from Omegna to Rome, from the Rodari Museum to the Eternal City, departing tomorrow Friday, July 4th, arriving Monday, July 7th.

The bicycle of peace was conceived by Andrea Ciocca, organized by G Team "A Help to Help Children", sponsored by sports federations and administrative institutions, funded by supporters and volunteers with direct donations to the Maggiore della Carità Hospital in Novara, towards the Neonatal Intensive Care unit and the Western Ukrainian Specialized Children's Medical Centre in Lviv, Ukraine, so far over 16,000 euros in equipment have been raised, with hopes of reaching 30,000 by 2025.

We pedal for sport, but here sport is that of goodness. We pedal for our own well-being, but here the well-being is that of others. We pedal to find inner peace, but here peace is what should belong to everyone, and which today is instead so offended, so trampled.

The bicycle inspires higher feelings, frees stronger emotions, returns purer thoughts, slows down time, extends space, widens hearts. It must be this salvific capacity - beyond the simplicity and cleanliness of the means, the humanity and civility of pedaling - that pushes people onto the road on two wheels, giving a sense, a meaning, a dedication to its start, as if pedaling alone were too little, almost a waste.
