Matteo Jorgenson will remain with Team Visma - Lease a Bike until at least 2029, the team enthusiastically communicated in recent hours, taking advantage of the week marking the start of the Tour de France. The two-time Paris-Nice overall winner sees the Dutch team as the best environment to take the next step in his career and become a true leader. "I immediately felt at home in this team and I don't see any other team where I can work with the same confidence and tranquility".
The twenty-five-year-old American is only in his second year with Visma - Lease a Bike, but he has clearly found his place within the squad. "The mentality within the group matches mine, as does the way of working. Honestly, it was an easy decision. I have set ambitious goals for the next four years and want to reach the peak of my career here. I'm happy to pursue these goals in this environment. For a rider like me, who pays great attention to small details, it's really important to work in an environment where you can trust everyone. I discovered this working in the team, with coaches, sports directors, and all management and other specialists. Everyone observes details with even more attention than I could ever do, which allows me to focus completely on my work: training and racing".
The work has already borne fruit in his first year with an overall victory at Paris-Nice, a win at Through Flanders, a second place at the Dauphiné, and an eighth place at the Tour de France. This season, Jorgenson has secured a second overall victory at Paris-Nice, which is an important result also looking towards the grand tours.
"Winning Paris-Nice twice was something I would never have thought possible before joining this team. It has changed my goals and ambitions and allowed me to dream big".
In the team, Matteo Jorgenson is an important man, not only for individual results but also for the synergistic work he manages to do with others, leading the team to obtain the most important victories. "Jorgenson will pursue his biggest dreams with Team Visma - Lease a Bike for at least the next four years," said Grischa Niermann, technical manager of the Dutch team. "Even though he was still under contract, our priority was to secure a rider like Matteo for a long period. Matteo is a very important rider for us in both grand tours and Classics. We have big plans for him and we are happy that he has decided to commit to our future".
