The first edition of Above | The Bike Experience has just concluded, an event staged by Movestro – the project heart of IBF – Italian Bike Festival – and Livigno Next. The event was created to bring bikes back to contexts that best enhance their essence, such as technical trails, mountain roads, and high-altitude routes. The backdrop was Livigno, a symbolic location for high-altitude sports, with its 3,200 km of GPS-tracked paths, a destination chosen by international athletes for high-altitude training and by thousands of enthusiasts for the variety and quality of its outdoor infrastructure.
From June 20 to 22, numerous visitors animated the Valtellina location, enjoying the Alpine Energy that distinguishes it and participating in a comprehensive and well-structured offering: test rides, technical clinics, guided outings, meetings with athletes, brands, and industry professionals.
At the center of the event, the Above Village, an accessible and participatory exhibition area, brought to life by over 40 exhibitors who brought a targeted selection of products, previews, and technical solutions. The offering was completed by storytelling and entertainment moments conducted by the Scannellatori Seriali.
"We imagined Above as an experience to be built on multiple levels, where the bike is not just a means but also a language to discover the territory," said Fabrizio Ravasio, Managing Director, Movestro Srl. "The interest shown by the public, the quality of exchanges, and active participation in activities confirm the effectiveness of our format: not just a product showcase, but a real opportunity to get hands-on, or better, pedal with the most innovative market models, in a controlled and supported environment. It is precisely on experiences and direct relationship with the territory that the most significant part of this first edition was played."
"We are very satisfied with this first edition, which officially kicks off the 2025 season," commented Luca Moretti, President of Livigno Next. "The event has enormous growth potential and is fully in line with the DNA of our location. Livigno has cycling in its soul, in every form, and Above could truly become the kick-off for our present and future summers. In short: a great first edition with many ideas to make this appointment even more central to our tourism offering."
The heart of Above | The Bike Experience was indeed in the experiences: on bikes, on trails, through hairpin turns, within the landscape. The guided experiences – part of the official program or promoted by partners – represented the true soul of the event: an articulated program designed for every level and discipline, from panoramic gravel to technical downhill, from road tours to mixed routes. Each outing was designed to enhance the extraordinary natural environment and offer participants a concrete opportunity for comparison, exploration, and growth, accompanied by local guides.
Alongside them, well-known cycling personalities alternated, such as Olympic track champion Elia Viviani and Eva Lechner, as well as champions who made bike training an alternative method, like Olympic snowboard-cross gold medalist Michela Moioli, who made each departure a moment of direct and authentic dialogue between those who live bikes every day, as professionals or enthusiasts.
Beyond experiences and technical moments, Above | The Bike Experience also offered points of reflection. During the three days, bikes were also protagonists on the microphone thanks to TriCiclo, the #1 podcast in Italy dedicated to the world of two wheels, which accompanied the public with special episodes featuring insights, interviews, and lived cycling stories. A narrative backdrop that enriched the off-bike experience, confirming how bike culture can extend well beyond the saddle.
With Above | The Bike Experience, Livigno warmed up for the Granfondo Livigno Alè, scheduled for Saturday, June 28: two routes, respectively 106 and 166 kilometers, that will take enthusiasts pedaling through the most iconic passes of the Rhaetian Alps, with a final climb towards Mottolino, retracing the iconic climb from the 2024 Giro d'Italia.
