An easy question: it has hosted the Giro multiple times, then the Tour de France and in August the Vuelta: what is missing for Turin and Piedmont? The answer is obvious, the World Championship. A whisper, a murmur, perhaps an idea or perhaps something more concrete, a suggestion that was lingering in the air during the presentation of the Spanish race's grand start.
And there is also a date, 2031, which is not just any date: that year is scheduled for the third edition of the SuperMondiale, meaning the world championship of all cycling specialties gathered in a single region. After Glasgow and Scotland in 2023, the French Alps and Sallanches will host the event in 2027.
Trentino has already made its move for 2031, and now the idea of Turin and Piedmont emerges. A suggestion or a real candidacy? An Italian derby to secure the world event?
