
Sunday will see the fourth edition of the Axion Lugano Summer Ride. The event promoted by Velo Club Lugano's president Andrea Prati will be a carousel for athletes of all ages. The races will take place on a 1,450-meter circuit drawn along Lake Lugano's waterfront; they will start at 12:40 with youth categories, followed by amateur riders and a vintage bicycle parade. The highlight of the Swiss event is the professional criterium starting at 7:30 PM.
At the race (26 laps; 37.700 km) on the edges of the stunning Lake Lugano, Mads Pedersen will also participate, World Champion from Harrogate 2019. In the current season, Pedersen's performance has been spectacular, with triumphs in 4 Giro d'Italia stages, one at Paris-Nice, plus the overall classification at the Tour of Provence. This year, Mads has also won the Gand-Wevelgem for the third time in his career. Additionally, the 29-year-old Danish Lidl-Trek rider won the points classification at the Giro d'Italia, as well as at Paris-Nice.
