The Moisés Ruiz pavilion in Almeria hosted the official presentation of the Škoda Titan Desert Almeria 2025. A race already in its sixth edition in Andalusian territory and which in 2024 registered a full house with a group of 500 cyclists.
The event was used to announce the race route: four stages that will take place between October 2nd and 5th, as well as to present the race's novelties and characteristics.
Each day will be characterized by a different landscape and challenge: a first stage at Cabo de Gata, a second in the Tabernas desert, a third where the Velefique peak will be climbed and a final one that will cross, as usual, the Álvarez de Sotomayor Legion base.
CONSTANTLY GROWING
The vice president and tourism deputy, Fernando Giménez, emphasized that "the Škoda Titan desert becomes our best business card to promote Almería as one of the most ideal places in the world to practice outdoor sports at any time of the year. Thanks to the excellence of the organization, international echo, high level of riders and the route's toughness, the Škoda Titan Desert is one of the flagship events of our 'Almería Activa' sports tourism program. And our great ally to promote the tourism and sports binomial in 'Costa de Almería' as a point of differentiation and added value that our land offers to visitors".
The Government delegate, Aranzazu Martín, highlighted the Andalusia Government's support for this test and explained the Junta de Andalucía Ambassador Challenge, which means that the best riders qualifying in the Andalusian MTB Cup, a total of six best men and six best women, will be the winners of this challenge and the Andalusian government will sponsor their participation in the Škoda Titan desert".
KING OF THE LIONS CIPOLLINI AND LUIS LEON SANCHEZ
Jesús García emphasized the strong connection between race and territory: "This will be the sixth time a Titan World Series event will be held in the province of Almeria and every year the bond only grows. From commitment to cycling among the youngest, to the network of workers and collaborators from Almeria who are the backbone of the organization, through extreme environmental care and responsibility, and of course, the precious institutional support we have had from day one".
Manuel Tajada highlighted one of the great sporting novelties of the edition: the new electric bicycle format. A non-sporting mode that would take place concurrently with the last two days of the race: October 4th and 5th. "It's a format we've already tried in Morocco with great success. Electric bicycles are an increasingly present reality and we cannot turn a deaf ear in the Titan World Series", he explained.
From a sporting perspective, the race promises to be very entertaining, both for the participation of elite cyclists and for the presence of road icons. So far, former world champion Mario Cipollini and seven-time Spanish champion Luis León Sánchez, among others, have confirmed their presence next October.
