After joining Soudal Quick-Step before the start of this year, Gianmarco Garofoli has now signed a new contract with the team, following an excellent Giro performance. Present in several breakaways in Italy, the rider affectionately known within the team as "Garo" has built an excellent start to 2025.
In his home Grand Tour, the 22-year-old from Ancona secured his first top ten at the Corsa Rosa in the Asiago stage, a result made even more impressive by the fact that it came after being involved in a crash in the first part of the race, thus demonstrating his determination and spirit that has already made him a popular member of The Wolfpack.
"I am delighted to sign a new contract with Soudal Quick-Step. From the moment I arrived here, long before my first race, I felt at home in the team. Everyone has been so kind and gave me a warm welcome, and moreover, I found the environment I needed to grow and become a better rider. I can't wait to perform in this jersey".
"The team's mentality and winning attitude are two other things that struck me. You see this team from the outside, but it's only when you're part of it that you understand how hard and professionally everyone works here, from riders to staff. I'm happy to continue with Soudal Quick-Step and give my all to help this team remain one of the best in the world", the Italian said after extending his contract.
"Gianmarco has immediately found his place in the team, integrated into our culture and demonstrated the same qualities and principles that guide us. Additionally, he has shown multiple times how strong he is, not just at the Giro, but in other races he has done. He is a young and ambitious rider, with room for improvement, and we are happy he will do so with us in the next two years", added Jürgen Foré, CEO of Soudal Quick-Step.
