"A ride in the Giro", to remember, to not forget and to renew the relationship that Banca Mediolanum and the Doris family have with cycling and the "pink race" in particular. A ride in the Giro to remember Ennio Doris, founder of Banca Mediolanum and a great cycling enthusiast. A pedal stroke with clients and fans, along the routes of the Giro d'Italia.
From Lonigo, where the first pedal strokes began this morning, to Vicenza, where the stage concluded. "It was a beautiful celebration and the renewed relationship with this magnificent race that has seen us as sponsors for 23 years - explained Massimo Doris, CEO of Banca Mediolanum, who pedaled alongside Moser and Fondriest, Bettini, Ballan and Dalia Muccioli -. We have always deeply loved this sport. You know how much dad loved it, but this is a sport that is rooted in our family and for over twenty years in our bank, which has identified this magnificent event as an ideal tool to convey values - passion, commitment and pursuit of goals - and territorial meeting with our clients. Three weeks of passion. We had a beautiful ride, perhaps the most numerous of all, with over 160 people, dedicated to dad."
Among the testimonials of this day was Fabrizio Macchi, former Paralympic athlete, with two world championships and a Paralympic medal from the Athens Games. "Besides having the pleasure of cycling with Banca Mediolanum - Macchi explained - I am here also for cystic fibrosis research: everyone needs help, they lack a breath, and I am here to promote two important projects: one on 30, which is an invitation to undergo specific exams, and the other is the 5x1000, fundamental for research development."
Also present was Nicola Dutto, a motorcyclist victim of a serious accident, who one day saw his life change radically: Nicola certainly didn't stop, he just changed pace. "I am happy to be here, alongside Massimo (Doris, ed) and many important friends and champions. For me, it's always truly a heartfelt moment."
Then the word returns to Massimo Doris, who is asked when he approached cycling. "I have always been a great enthusiast. Since childhood, I dreamed of the bicycle and dad made me work hard for it. When did I see the first Giro stage live? Many years ago, I was still a young boy, and I was with mom Lina and dad Ennio, but Sara, my sister, was with me too. It's a beautiful sport that brings people together, that lets you experience something unique in nature. That passes before your eyes and leaves you with sensations that are difficult to convey, but that remain indelible in your heart. It's a sport of passion and we are happy to fuel that passion."
The last question is the most difficult: who will win the Giro? "Del Toro is strong, but they still seem too close. I believe the Giro has yet to begin."
Today they also pedaled for the Mediolanum Foundation, for the "Fragile, but Powerful" project, the new fundraising campaign of the year. The project aims to provide 1,064 children with complex neurological conditions and their families with a personalized rehabilitation and support path, in collaboration with three excellent realities: Fondazione Don Gnocchi, Fondazione Fight The Stroke and Fondazione TOG. "Fragile, but Powerful" addresses minors living with cognitive, motor and communication difficulties, caused by genetic, congenital or perinatal trauma lesions.
