
Three winners from the beginners and junior races and two Florence provincial champions in the highly successful "Blue Day" organized at Casenuove di Empoli by San Miniato Cycling, led by President Alberto Carmignani, thanks to Trattoria Cioffi with the Salvatore Cioffi Memorial up for grabs to remember a member of this well-known family.
Over 200 participants, with the first race won in a sprint by first-year beginner Diego Della Polla from Coltano Grube in his fifth seasonal success, ahead of Verdini, Meniconi (very active and brilliant in the race), Stefanini and Gavazzi. The provincial title was won by Piercarlo Tognetti (U.C. Empolese).
In the second race (66 at the start), victory went to Gabriele Leo from Cambike, who had won the day before in the province of Frosinone. A beautiful double for Leo, who during the race with two passes on the Casette climb had also tried a solo action, then reproposed in the finale, winning by 4" over Belloni, Breda, De Stefano and Beoni. The provincial title went to Antonio William Boretti (Team Valldinievole) who resides in the province of Florence.
Without this title, the junior race (98 starters) saw victory in a sprint for the Lazio rider Brian Paris (Work Service Coratti) ahead of the Friulian riders Taboga and D'Aiuto, followed by Favilli and Kolarski.
