White jersey and yellow card. If Mads Pedersen is the first Dane in history to wear the pink jersey, Francesco Busatto is the first yellow card of the Giro d'Italia: these are satisfactions. A warning for an irregular sprint: "elbow and head-butt (twice) during the sprint", reads the statement issued by the jury panel. A warning that makes history and will be part of the rider's record in this Giro. Busatto must be careful, at the next "yellow" he goes home, as per regulations, which we will reproduce below.
The accumulation of yellow cards in a defined period will result in a suspension as follows:
- During the same race, anyone who receives two yellow cards will be disqualified from that race and suspended for 7 days, starting from the day after receiving the second yellow card;
- anyone who receives three yellow cards within thirty days will be suspended for 14 days, starting from the day after receiving the third yellow card;
- anyone who receives six yellow cards within a year will be suspended for 30 days, starting from the day after receiving the sixth yellow card;
