The Joker mask on the Ca' del Poggio Wall. Andrea Vendrame is ready for the Giro d'Italia: his legs are in shape, and his morale is high. The young champion from Santa Lucia di Piave will be among the 184 cyclists competing today in the inaugural stage, from Durazzo to Tirana.
Before departing for yet another pink adventure, Vendrame wanted to train on the roads that will lead riders from Fiume Veneto to Asiago on Sunday, May 25, passing through the Ca' del Poggio Wall. For Vendrame, this won't be just another day: last year - it was also May 25 - he arrived at the Wall the day after his memorable feat in the Mortegliano-Sappada stage, where he participated in a breakaway of almost 100 km, with the last 28 km ridden alone, crossing the finish line with arms raised. At the Wall, where Vendrame is at home thanks to his friendship with the Stocco family, it was a double celebration. The best way to collect the well-deserved tribute after an epic stage: among his fans, with the Joker mask painting the iconic climb among the vineyards. A truly memorable day.
The Great Pink Festa will return to Ca' del Poggio on May 25 as well. An event open to all enthusiasts, promising to renew the spectacle of the riders' last passage on the iconic climb among the vineyards. A setting estimated at twenty thousand people both in 2022 and 2024. While waiting for the stage passage and throughout the day, the San Pietro di Feletto climb will be enriched with food and wine stands (churrasco and spit-roast), music from Radio Company DJs, media partners of the event, the sympathy of the mascot Poggy, great guests from the world of sports and entertainment, and exceptional testimonials. The Giro d'Italia Caravan is expected on the Wall at 11, with the stage passage occurring around 12:30. Access to the Wall will remain free, with ample parking at the foot of the climb. A large screen with the stage's live broadcast is also planned.
The Giro d'Italia's passage on the Ca' del Poggio Wall will also be an opportunity for solidarity, with a fundraising event for the Italian Progeria Association founded by Sammy Basso - with his parents present - and the Collagene VI Italia Aps association chaired by Giulia Da Re, who resides at the foot of the Wall, a group created by people suffering from degenerative neuromuscular diseases due to type VI collagen deficiency. Exactly one year after the last great pink festa among the Hills of Prosecco of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the event will return to the setting that can now be considered one of the most classic climbs of the Giro d'Italia. Vendrame is ready.
