A hard-fought race that was decided by a 7-rider attack just before mid-race, in the flat section between Revello and Barge. In the subsequent uphill section of Colletta between Barde and Paesana, 4 riders remained at the front, with Gallo leading Roccia and Galfre' at the mountain grand prix; these riders, together with Caorsi, continued by mutual agreement towards the finish line, carefully managing their accumulated advantage up to a maximum of 1'30". The peloton's reaction came in the final part of the climb, where about ten riders were chasing, but without any hope of closing the gap. The leading quartet then contested the victory in a tight sprint, with a powerful burst from Turin's Gallo prevailing over Liguria's Caorsi and Piedmont's Roccia and Galfre': the latter won the Cuneo Provincial Championship, donning the new jersey from Cicli Mattio, handed to him by Cuneo FCI Provincial President Sergio Barale.
The main group arrived 44" later, led by Mattia Moretti who preceded Liguria's Oliveri and Piedmont's Bosio, Soldarini, Gugnino and Brustia. Plenty of interesting insights for Regional Coach Gian Pietro Campagnaro who followed the race.
