Everyone in Scheggino on Sunday, May 4th

This is not a race, but a non-competitive cycling tourism event, so breathe and pedal from the first to the last available kilometer, enjoying everything nature offers. The SpoletoNorcia Gravel was created to promote Umbrian tourism through routes not covered by the SpoletoNorcia MTB event scheduled for September 7th, areas that will feature both unpaved and paved roads, a balanced mix to enjoy everything the zone offers. The meeting point? Sunday morning, May 7th from 7 to 8 AM for race package collection, which includes a commemorative event jersey for the first 150 registered participants, created by Alé.

Four Routes Through True Territorial Wonders

The four gravel routes (Short 30 km - MEDIUM 74 km - LONG 100 km - BEYOND 140 km) wind in a loop through Valnerina, along part of the Nera Greenway up to the spectacular Marmore Falls. This year, for the first time, it will be possible to cross the suggestive Assisi-Spoleto Olive Belt, recognized by FAO as a global rural heritage, and admire up close the Clitunno River springs and the Roman-origin temple reconstructed by the Lombards, long inscribed on the UNESCO list. The passages through the old railway tunnels will remain indelible, a true dive into the past.

Starting from Scheggino, Loop Routes

The four itineraries start and end in Scheggino, a charming medieval village characterized by an imposing watchtower. The village will host the event village where participants can collect their race package and register until the morning of the event. The SHORT route has an elevation gain of 700 m, the MEDIUM 1600 m, the LONG 2200 m, while the BEYOND will have 2600 m! The organization, while also featuring soft climbs and smooth sections, recommends the last two distances for those with good athletic preparation, understanding that this is not a race, so look around and appreciate everything the route will offer you.

The Spectacle Begins on Saturday

The pre-event fee is discounted to 40 € until May 1st and will become full price (50 €) for those registering at the last moment or directly in Scheggino on May 3rd and 4th. The initiatives are not concentrated only on Sunday, with Saturday, May 3rd featuring events from 4 PM in Piazza Urbani with the Village opening and first race package distribution, followed at 5 PM by the SpoletoNorcia GRAVEL inauguration in the presence of institutions and the extraordinary participation of Peppone Calabrese from RAI 1's Linea Verde. Then at 5:45 PM at the Municipal Theater, a book presentation of "L'Italia che ho visto" by Peppone Calabrese, interviewed on-site by Massimo Zamponi. Finally, a focus on gastronomy with a visit at 7 PM to the Truffle Museum, featuring a free tasting of typical local products reworked by Spoleto hospitality school students under the guidance of Urbani Tartufi's chef. The menu includes truffle lentils, truffle omelet, truffle snails and trout, naturally with truffle, concluding with a wide selection of typical Valnerina cured meats and cheeses. The evening will end at 9 PM with a theatrical performance organized by the Municipal Administration, but it's worth noting that it will also be possible to visit museums in the city and Valnerina.
