Rome hosts today the Coati Liberazione Women which has gained increased prestige by being included in the Coppa Italia delle Regioni, which moreover propitiated the equalization of the prize money with the men's Under 23 race.
And thanks to the Professional Cycling League, at 12:40 we will offer you the race's delayed streaming images with Stefano Masi's commentary: don't miss it!
The team to beat will be UAE ADQ, which last year was the protagonist of a fantastic finish with a triple parade, occupying the first four positions in the final order. This time, the three athletes who shared the 2024 podium won't be there, but there will be first and foremost the fourth-place finisher: the young star Federica Venturelli, but also watch out for the Dutch rider Sofie van Rooijen, who can be merciless in sprints.
We were talking about the race's increased prestige, and today another World Tour team will compete for the scepter against UAE: the Swiss Roland, with passists like Giorgia Vettorello or Tamara Dronova who can play the role of perfect antagonists. The numerous Italian Continental teams, cradles of our best athletes, will certainly be fierce, always ready to showcase their best in events like Liberation. Starting with the Top Girls Fassa Bortolo of veteran Lucio Rigato and the Bepink Imatra Bongioanni, winner two years ago with Silvia Zanardi and ready to display its usual well-assorted mix of new talents and more experienced profiles. There's the Born to Win BTC Ljubljana, among the protagonists of the previous edition: keep an eye on Lara Crestanello, who won semi-classics in Croatia and Slovenia in March, and Anastasia Carbonari coming off a professional year. There's Aromitalia 3T Vaiano, with one of the oldest cyclists in the group like the 36-year-old Rasa Leleivyte and one of the youngest, the 19-year-old Eleonora La Bella. There's Isolmant Premac Vittoria, with its usual roster of cross-road cyclists. There's Mendelspeck, which this year is also racing to honor the memory of Sara Piffer, who lost her life in training three months ago on her roads in Trentino, and would have very likely participated in Liberation.
The other Italian clubs certainly won't want to be any less, such as Petrucci Gauss, Corridonia, Zhiraf Pagliaccia, Horizons, which will see the rising star of the blue track Anita Baima measuring herself on the asphalt of the Eternal City, and the Pro Cycling of Manuel Fanini, composed entirely of Ukrainian athletes. In addition to this team, a national selection from Ukraine will also be at the start, underlining the Liberation Grand Prix's connection to yesterday's and today's history. The foreign lineup is completed by the Spanish Eneicat, where Italian Valentina Basilico also races, the Australian Saint Kilda continuing the special relationship between Liberation and the imposing Oceanian State, and the Mexican-Sammarinese Monex which also participates in the men's race in both Juniors and U23 categories.
