The little brother beats the big brother: Victor Guernalec has today achieved what his brother has not yet managed - winning as a professional. The 25-year-old new pro from Arkea B&B Hotels secured victory in the second stage of the Region Pays de la Loire Tour - the Cugand-la-Bernardière - Beaupréau-en-Mauges of 158.5 km - by leading a breakaway with Sakarias Loland from Uno-X Mobility and Sam Maisonobe from Cofidis.
The peloton targeted them in the final kilometers, but Guernalec and Loland managed to resist until the finish line, taking the first two spots, while Sam Bannett, yesterday's winner and confirmed race leader, finished fourth behind British rider Hobbs. A good seventh place for the new professional from Bergamo, Sergio Meris of Unibet Tietema Rockets.
