The theme of sustainability has long been at the center of FSA Bike Festival Riva del Garda's attention and, in the edition that will take place from May 1st to 4th, the organization will measure the event's CO2 footprint, in line with the UCI Climate Action Charter guidelines. The International Cycling Union's Charter aims to reduce the environmental impact of cycling events and promote the benefits of increased bicycle use for sustainable development; signatories recognize the necessary actions to enable a rapid and profound reduction of emissions in the sports sector by 2030. FSA Bike Festival Riva del Garda has decided to fully embrace UCI's objectives and do its part!
Collaborations with schools and associations
In its promotion and awareness activities on the topic, the Bike Festival places great importance on collaboration with schools and social associations, with which various projects will be implemented. Among these, the cleaning and waste collection activity will be carried out by a social cooperative that primarily employs disadvantaged people, while part of the "chill area" furnishings at the Expo, such as deck chairs and benches, have been handmade with recycled fabrics by a local social cooperative. Additionally, the festival has established collaborations with local schools, such as sports high schools, and for students, it will be an additional learning opportunity.
Sustainable glasses, plates, and cutlery
As in the previous year, in the 2025 edition, there will be no disposable glasses within the Expo area, as only rigid glasses made from recycled plastic will be used, available at beverage distribution points: all visitors can take them home as a souvenir or return them to be washed and reused. Cutlery, plates, and napkins are also made from ecological and recyclable materials.
Free and non-plastic water
Throughout the festival area, among the stands, free drinking water dispensers will be available to allow everyone to refill with fresh water. To do this, you can bring your own water bottle, use the Bike Festival cup, or purchase the Bike Festival water bottle made from sustainable materials at the official store.
Local gastronomic activities
Regarding food during FSA Bike Festival Riva del Garda, all refreshment points will be managed by local organizations: the event focuses on local cuisine with options for vegetarians and people with special dietary needs.
Waste collection and recycling
The waste separation system ensures an easy, practical, and sustainable waste management for both visitors and exhibitors, with differentiated collection and, when possible, on-site recycling.
Clean energy
Hydroelectric power plants provide 100% regionally certified renewable natural energy sources, powering not only the festival area but also the fleet of electric cars. The Bike Festival, in fact, focuses on ecological mobility and provides its collaborators, before and during the event, with hybrid or fully electric vehicles, from vans to individual vehicles.
Eco-friendly merchandising
Even the FSA Bike Festival Riva del Garda merchandising takes the environment into account: all products are made ecologically, from organic cotton t-shirts to recycled yarn socks. The structures used during the event are completely made of wood and ecological materials, ensuring multi-year use for other events: from signage to information panels, as well as stands, stages, and other structures are reused every year.
Accessibility
Sustainability also means accessibility for people with reduced mobility or for the visually impaired: since last year, the Bike Festival has obtained the Open Mark, and within the Expo, there will be a section with companies and associations working in the sector. This theme will also be extensively discussed in the Talks program.
