Genova~Bike, after the success of organizing the 2024 Italian Championship, is proposing an event that will further enhance the splendid City of Genoa from a Sports Tourism perspective. On Sunday, March 16, 2025, the race reserved for the Junior Category called "GENOA CITY CUP"

The event will take place in the Ligurian capital on Corso Italia, with start and finish in front of Squash Genova. It will be a national Criterium with a 4.7 km circuit to be repeated 17 times for a total of 80 km. The route will wind through the entire Corso Italia, both mountain and sea sides. The race start time is scheduled for 10:00 AM, with the expected finish at 12:00 PM.

Currently, fifteen teams are registered with a total of 120 participants: standing out are UC Casano, the only Ligurian team following this category, and the Team Fratelli Giorgi Brasilia ISI Service, which includes Matteo Mengarelli from Savona, winner of last Sunday's GP Giuliano Baronti, a national Junior race in Tuscany.

Guest of honor at the event is the World Champion and 2024 Italian Champion, Genoese Lorenzo Finn, currently registered with Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe Rookies, a satellite team of the German World Tour team.

The race, sponsored by the City of Genoa, saw Sports Councilor Alessandra Bianchi and Local Police Councilor Sergio Gambino as its first supporters who positively welcomed the initiative.

Sandro Tuvo, former FCI Liguria president and organizational front man, argues that this initiative, proposed on the eve of the Genoa-Sanremo women's race and the Milan-Sanremo men's race, could represent the beginning of an adventure that might lead to the birth of an early-season classic for the Junior category. A big thanks goes to Professional Race Director Marco Casini, member of the Ligurian Regional Committee, and to Lucia Noletti (race director) for their precious collaboration on the Genoa City Trophy.

The Genoese team will continue its commitment in 2025 with the organization of the European Bike Marathon Championship, which will take place during the Apennine Marathon on August 6, 7, and 8 in Casella (Genoa).
