CONTINENTAL | 01/02/2025 | 08:13
The 2025 season of Sc Padovani Polo Cherry Bank was launched with a grand vernissage. Hosted in the suggestive Sala Rossini, inside the iconic and central Caffè Pedrocchi in the heart of Padova, President Galdino Peruzzo, flanked by Vice-Presidents Martino Scarso and Alberto Ongarato, unveiled the project that will bring the white-green jerseys back to the international panorama that has allowed the Padua-based team, founded in 1909, to collect 11 Olympic medals, 15 world titles and 67 national titles.

14 ATHLETES, TOP-TIER CALENDAR -
14 athletes make up the 2025 roster of Sc Padovani Polo Cherry Bank with a balanced mix of young talents and experienced riders. The team includes young sprinters like Lorenzo Ursella, Andrea Scarso, Antonio and Kevin Bonaldo, some all-round athletes like Mirko Bozzola, Matteo Zurlo, Samuele Mion, Luca Graziotto, Davide Basso and Matteo Baseggio, plus some top-class climbers like Marco Palomba and Federico Guzzo. Making their debut among the Under 23, noteworthy are European and World Track Champion Ares Costa and promising talent Thomas Turri.
The team is led by Team Manager Alessandro Petacchi, who can count on a team of six Sports Directors: alongside experienced Franco Lampugnani and Dmitri Konychev, Michele Corrocher, Matteo Paiola, Marcello Pavarin and Leonardo Sari also join. During the presentation, the new jerseys by Giordana and the Guerciotti bicycles that will be used by the team in 2025 were also revealed. The calendar for Sc Padovani is already defined: after debuting on January 24th in Estivella, the white-green formation will return to racing in the last weekend of February to tackle four national classic events like Coppa San Geo, Firenze-Empoli, Gp La Torre and Misano 100. Following this, all national and international spring appointments will be added, including professional calendar events like Trofeo Laigueglia, Settimana Internazionale di Coppi e Bartali and Giro d'Abruzzo, along with international trips to major events across Europe.

GUESTS AND STATEMENTS - A qualified and numerous audience applauded the lineup of athletes from Sc Padovani Polo Cherry Bank: hosting the event was the Sports Councilor of the Municipality of Padua, Diego Bonavina, who emphasized: "I've been doing Sc Padovani presentations for 8 years. There's great collaboration, and when they presented this project to me, I said 'wow'. When Padua cyclists reach important podiums, they'll carry Padua's name with them. Best of luck".

Setting the course for the new season was President Galdino Peruzzo: "This is my 13th year of presidency. We started with Gran Fondo, children, and this year this idea emerged. Initially, I said No, but Martino Scarso and Alberto Ongarato worked hard and it turned out well. I was surprised by the seriousness of the guys. I spent three days with them in Spain, we expect good results, and the prerequisites are there. We have many ambitions".

A vision completed by Vice-Presidents Alberto Ongarato: "The keyword is to believe in the project, in the society, in the sponsors, and in the staff we've created, which is of the highest level. We're starting from a serious project, we already know the Padovani name. We want to give Padua the cycling team it deserves" and Martino Scarso: "When we presented this project in July, we had an 8-hour meeting and decided that if we were going to start, we had to do it with a winning project because we want to become a reference point for the category in Italy and abroad. We believe we have the right mentality and great team spirit. What will be your motto? Always try, never give up".

A certain emotion was evident in the words of all athletes and team manager Alessandro Petacchi: "As a professional, I've done many of these presentations, but tonight I'm in a different role, and I must say it moves me. I like being in contact with athletes, sports directors, and managers; it's a very stimulating environment. We've worked hard together in these months, and I'm certain the fruits will be seen from the first races".

A project that has found concrete support thanks to Cherry Bank: "After supporting Sc Padovani in the first two editions of the Giro del Veneto Juniores, we are strengthening our support for a project that reflects Cherry Bank's values in projecting young generations towards their dream, leveraging each individual's potential," commented Vincenzo Galileo, Corporate Banking Manager at Cherry Bank. "Just like in our banking approach, in cycling, achieving goals requires quality, courage, trust, dedication, speed, and team spirit. Values to which we are faithful every day with a commitment that has led Cherry Bank to expand its reach in corporate, wealth management, and retail segments, now offering a wide range of digital and physical services to individuals, families, businesses, and entrepreneurs. With this same spirit, we accompany Sc Padovani in its work in the territory and with the team's talents, looking ahead to national and international competitions."

Also present were the President of the Veneto Regional Council and Vice-President of Cycling League, Roberto Ciambetti, Veneto Regional Councilor Enoch Soranzo, and Padua Province Councilor Valentino Turetta.

The Italian Cycling Federation (FCI) also deployed its management team to applaud the commitment for the 2025 season by Sc Padovani Polo Cherry Bank, with National President Cordiano Dagnoni, accompanied by Regional President Mario Guerretta and Provincial President Alberto Barbirato, as well as the U23 Technical Director, Marino Amadori, and the national performance group manager, Diego Bragato. "I gladly accepted this invitation because it brought me back to my childhood. The Padovani colors remind me of my childhood. I breathed cycling air from a young age when my father took me to the velodrome. His mentor was Severino Rigoni. A partnership that has always represented excellence, and I'm pleased that the president has revived these colors," explained Cordiano Dagnoni.
