Andrea Colnaghi is getting off the bike but not leaving cycling. The 28-year-old from Lecco has decided to end his competitive career after twenty-two years of pedaling in teams from Costamasnaga, Alzate Brianza, Velo Club Sovico, Team Giorgi, Palazzago, Named, Trevigiani, Team Onec and Karcag Cycling.
"In this season, with Team Karcag I did quite well, I achieved some good results (particularly winning the second stage of the RBB Tour, ed)", Andrea tells tuttobiciweb.
However, no regrets for Colnaghi, who states satisfied: "I've lived through a beautiful journey, full of sacrifices, good moments and less good ones, but for all these years I must thank many people and several teams. In particular, I want to remember Team Onec and Karcag, but also all the teams I rode for as a young cyclist were important for my growth".
He will no longer be in the thick of competition, but Andrea will continue to follow cycling races very closely. He had hinted at this in recent days on his social media and now explains it clearly to our microphones: "I'll do what I studied for, as a masseur; I'll be on the staff of Team Tudor. In recent days I was at the team's headquarters and soon I'll be involved in training camps and races". In the red and white team, Andrea will find his twin brother Davide, who is one of the team's mechanics.
We point out to Andrea that this means two Colnaghi will be back in the same team, just like in their youth categories. "Davide will help me settle in and start this new adventure," he responds to us.
So, "good luck" and best wishes to Andrea, Davide and Luca Colnaghi, three brothers for whom – as Andrea wrote on social media – cycling is not just a sport, but home.
