Jonathan Milan (Lidl - Trek) won the great battle among sprinters and conquered victory in the Kampioenschap van Vlaanderen held today on the Koolskamp circuit in Belgium. At the end of eleven scheduled laps (180 kilometers), the Friulian rider anticipated Dylan Groenewegen (Team Jayco AlUla) and Tim Merlier (Soudal Quick-Step), celebrating his twenty-fifth career victory. Matteo Malucelli (XDS Astana Team) immediately classified just behind the podium, while Giacomo Nizzolo crossed the finish line in tenth position.
A crash less than two kilometers from the finish line took Sam Welsford and Taco van der Hoorn out of contention, while a puncture eight kilometers from the end forced Matteo Moschetti to chase.
MILAN'S WORDS: "Winning is always something special. The team worked excellently throughout the race and even in the final when there was a bit of chaos, my teammates were really good at keeping me in the leading positions. I am truly happy to have won."
