At just 24 years old, Joey Pidcock has decided to leave the world of professional cycling and his most beautiful memory is his last Tour of Guangxi with his brother Tom. The British rider competed in his final professional race on Sunday, October 18, at the Tour of Guangxi. Tom dreamed of saying goodbye to him with a victory, but in the end he finished second in the general classification.
Hanging up the bike at 24 years old: Joey Pidcock has chosen to retire from professional cycling after competing in his last race, the Tour of Guangxi, in China. By his side, in the Pinarello-Q36.5 team, was his older brother Tom, one of the most renowned names in international cycling.
Tom hoped to transform Joey's final race into a special farewell, perhaps with a victory. It didn't work out that way: the British rider finished second in both the final stage and the general classification, behind Belgian Jarno Widar. After the race, he shared his message for his brother on social media, recounting his dream of winning together with him one last time.
Joey began his professional career in 2021 with the Groupama-FDJ development squad. In 2023 he moved to Trinity Racing and in 2025 he joined Q36.5, where he raced alongside Tom. At the Tour of Guangxi his role was that of a domestique: one final service in the race for his brother, before closing his adventure in professional cycling.
His career path did not achieve the results of his older brother, who has established himself at the highest levels in multiple disciplines. But the last image remains that of a shared race: Joey working for Tom, and Tom who would have liked to repay him with the perfect victory for a farewell.
