Jonathan Milan world champion of the individual pursuit at the end of an extraordinary day. The giant from Friuli literally dominated the final against Danish rider Frederik Madsen: after setting the world record in qualifying, Milan pedaled in the final for the first two kilometers below his own record, then slightly eased the pace finishing in 4:00.769 while his rival did not go beyond the time of 4:06.038.
For the bronze medal, Filippo Ganna literally crushed Danish rider Rasmus Pedersen, a pillar of the world champion quartet. The Piedmontese rider pedaled in 4:02.275 compared to his rival's 4:07.291: Ganna as always struggled at the start but exactly at the two-kilometer mark he overtook Pedersen and from that moment on he traveled at a noticeably higher speed, earning himself a place on the podium.
POINTS RACE MEN. Great Britain shines thanks to Mark Stewart who claimed the world title ahead of Frenchman Benjamin Thomas and Portuguese rider Carlos Salgueiro with Danish rider Carl-Frederik Bevort who came just meters away from gaining a lap in the final lap and pulling off an upset. Italian Niccolò Galli finished in seventh place with 8 points, the result of a winning sprint and a second-place finish.
Worth noting in the tournament is the eighth place finish of thirty-six-year-old Taylor Phinney while the other American, the very young Ashlin Berry, finished in fifth place.
KILOMETER MEN. Dutchman Jeffrey Hoogland (58.609 in qualifying, 58.713 in the final) claims yet another world title of his career dominating the kilometer tournament. Silver for Frenchman Etienne Oliviero and bronze for British rider Joseph Truman. Eighth place for Matteo Bianchi (who qualified with a time of 1:00.217, then matched it with 1:00.805 in the final), while Fabio Del Medico closed qualifying in eighteenth place with a time of 1:01.848.
