Piasco, in the heart of Valle Varaita, is preparing to host one of Italy's premier individual time trial competitions. On Saturday, October 24, 2026, the town in the Cuneo province will host the Italian Individual Time Trial Championships for the Juniors, U23, Elite Women/U23 and Youth categories. The organizational management is entrusted to ASD Velo Club Esperia Piasco, with the support of ExtraGiro Race, the Italian Cycling Federation and the municipal administration.
The assignment recognizes Piasco as one of the most dynamic hubs of Italian youth cycling. The Italian Cycling Federation officially awarded the Championships to Esperia on Thursday, October 8, making preparation timelines particularly tight. For Esperia, it marks a return to a major national event following the Italian Junior Road Championships organized in Cherasco in 2022, the club's fiftieth anniversary year. Founded in 1972, the club today follows athletes aged 6 to 18 and, in over half a century, has organized approximately 600 races and accumulated over 3,000 victories, transforming sporting passion into an educational project rooted in the community.
The courses, flat and fast, have been designed to showcase time trial specialists: 13 km for Junior and Youth women and 19.7 km for Elite Women/U23, U23, and Junior men. The event will offer the Cuneo territory national visibility and will tell the story of a reality capable of combining organization, youth development and the social dimension of sport.
The event will involve the entire town and represent a concrete opportunity to promote Valle Varaita, its activities and its ability to welcome athletes, coaches, support staff and enthusiasts from across Italy. The Italian Championship will therefore be not only a competitive appointment, but also a showcase for the territory and the work of local organizations, called upon to collaborate so that the day unfolds in an atmosphere of participation and shared commitment.
