After the men's team, the women's quartet in team pursuit also flies to the gold final: Elisa Balsamo, Martina Alzini, Martina Fidanza and Vittoria Guazzini pedaled with an excellent time of 4.06.771, beating Germany's Messane Bräutigam, Franziska Brausse, Lisa Klein and Mielke Kröger who finished in 4.07.685.

The finals are scheduled for 13.48 Italian time: first the bronze medal race that will pit Germany against the Netherlands, who also fielded the unstoppable Lorena Wiebes, while for the world title Italy's opponent will be Great Britain with Anna Morris, Megan Barker, Millie Couzens and Josie Knight who finished in 4.07.238.

MEN'S KEIRIN. No glory for Mattia Predomo who closes in sixth place in his heat and does no better in the repechage, ending his race here.

WOMEN'S SPRINT. Miriam Vece posts twenty-seventh place in qualifying with 10.940, advances to the next round but is forced into a clash with the highly-rated Dutch rider Hetty Van de Wouw and is forced to stop at the round of sixteen.
