Another young French talent is ready to make his WorldTour debut: Team Jayco AlUla has finalized the signing of Ugo Fabries with a two-year contract. The twenty-one-year-old Frenchman has caught the attention of GreenEDGE Cycling following an excellent performance at this year's Tour de l'Avenir, one of the most prestigious Under 23 races on the calendar.
Fabries will be the first French rider to sign for the Australian team, and the technical staff cannot wait to take on the challenge of helping the former Under 23 national champion grow and become a professional with the team.
After two years spent with UAE Team Emirates Gen Z, the Toulouse-based rider has collected a series of excellent performances, particularly on hilly terrain and in time trials. His second-place finish in the individual time trial at the 2026 Tour de l'Avenir has further demonstrated his strength and abilities, and 2027 promises to be an exciting WorldTour debut season for the young talent.
Ugo Fabries: “I am thrilled to join GreenEDGE Cycling and make the jump to the WorldTour next year. So far it has been an incredible journey and I am grateful to have been supported by such extraordinary people and teams. I cannot wait to discover what the next two years will bring. I want to continue improving, learning the trade, and enjoying cycling races even more. Returning to an English-speaking environment is another factor that makes me think GreenEDGE is the right place to start my professional career. I look forward to meeting everyone and getting started.”
In turn, Gene Bates, performance manager of the Australian team, adds: “We are truly excited to have Ugo in our squad. He will be our first French rider, which is fantastic. We have followed Ugo throughout the season and after some excellent performances, particularly at the Tour de l'Avenir with second place in the climbing time trial and sixth place in the general classification, we believe he will be an excellent addition and has a bright future in the mountains, with the possibility of becoming a strong contender for the general classification in stage races. He is young, so we still need to understand how he will perform as a rider and we are excited to start this new journey with Ugo and see where he can grow and transform into a world-class athlete.”
