"Deminetor" enters the action 40 km from the finish line, when there's only Maeve Squiban in the breakaway. It's she who takes control of the situation and shakes things up. The finale is a battle down to the last drop of energy. They don't hold back, they don't care, they don't look at each other, they push until the end, as long as they can. She's a great world champion, because she's number 1 in women's world cycling. Today there's also a jersey, five colors that say it, that identify her, that make her visible. That's only right.

Kasia NIEWIADOMA. 9. The 31-year-old Polish rider in Phinney confirms herself as an athlete of rank, staying in the thick of the race until the end, racing with strength and intelligence, and plenty of heart. She tries to pull out her ace, but in front of her she has the ace of tulips.

Elisa LONGO BORGHINI. 9. For her, the era of bronze continues, but you can't reproach her with anything: what more could she have done? She puts in her soul, she puts in her heart, she puts in so many legs. She tries to shake things up with intelligence, but she finds two like her, hard to kill. We're left with bronze, but for me she remains the "queen": of gold.

Marlen REUSSER. 8. Endurance and resilience, the Swiss rider is all of this. A wooden medal that's worth much more for her too and doesn't tell the truth. A fourth place on a hard and selective course, too demanding for someone like her, but she doesn't sink, she surfs with class and absolute personality.

Juliet BERTHET. 5.5. The 27-year-old French rider has talent and qualities visible to the naked eye, but in this world championship, when the superstars enter the scene, she exits.

Puck PIETERSE. 7.5. The 24-year-old Dutch rider does a big effort for her captain, then brings home a result that feels like a victory.

Camilla Eleonora GASPARRINI. 7. She works hard, like all the Italian riders (rating 7, like coach Marco Velo) and also has to chase when she falls. Yet in the end she's among the best: a 12th place finish in such a hard and selective world championship is not a foregone conclusion.

Maeve SQUIBAN. 6.5. The 24-year-old French rider with UAE Team ADQ sounds the charge. The attack that changes the race is hers.

Lotte KOPECKY. 5. The course is too selective, but she exits the scene too early.

Marte BERG EDSETH. 7. The Norwegian stays in command with only Natalie Quinn (United States). The two of them animate the first part of this world championship battle. Tough, very tough, on a very demanding course.

Natalie QUINN. 6.5. The American takes off and goes, with Marte Berg Edseth (Norway), Beatriz Roxo (Portugal) and Gergana Stoyanova (Bulgaria). This is the first "world championship" breakaway: it forms after just 20 km of racing.

Magdeleine VALLIERES. 4. The Canadian was the defending world champion. She exits the radar too early, partly due to a crash. Her race reflects the season in the rainbow jersey: not even a podium to show for it.

Paula BLASI. 17. The talented Spanish rider's world championship lasts until 90 km from the finish, until she's involved in a crash: she's the one who comes out of it worst. Damnation!

Sajedeh SIYAHIAN. 1. It's the Iranian who raises the white flag, the first to head to the pits. The first to abandon the world championship battle.
