MEDITERRANEAN TOUR IN PINK. PIEDMONTESE ANITA BAIMA ILLUMINATES THE NIGHT OF FRATTAMAGGIORE

WOMEN | 19/09/2026 | 08:16

The formidable Anita Baima illuminates with the colors of triumph the warm night of Frattamaggiore, the city hosting the first stage of the eleventh edition of the "Mediterranean Tour in Pink". The spectacular individual time trial that opened the competition, strongly desired and organized by Luigi Eucalipto, Salvatore Belardo and Francesco Vitiello, was won by the twenty-year-old from Turin from Ciriè, who covered the 1650 meters of the race in 2'06".900, at the remarkable average speed of 46.047 km/h. The strong rider for the Isolmant - Premac - Vittoria team, elite winner last Sunday in the Racconigi race (CN), winner of competitions held in Monza (MB), Ponte a Egola di San Miniato (PI), Valvasone Arzene (PN), Noventa di Piave (VE) and dominant in the final general classification of the "Three Days in Pink in the Lands of Granda 2026", relegated to the less noble podium steps the athlete from Grumo Nevano (NA) Maria Pia Chiatto (Zhiraf) and the powerful Russian Polina Danshina (Petrucci Gauss Cycling Team). Excellent performance by the fresh track world champion Angelina Novolodskaya (Petrucci Gauss Cycling Team), who finished just off the podium and first in the special ranking reserved for the junior category, ahead of the multi-titled Italian champions Maya Ferrante (U.C. Conscio Pedale del Sile), world champion on track, and Elisa Bianchi (Biesse - Carrera - Premac), European champion also on track. In response to the invitation from the Campania organizers, 100 athletes participated (65 elite and 35 junior), representing 23 different teams.

“I am truly enthusiastic about this success - highlighted the athlete directed from the team car by former professional Giovanni Fidanza - I knew I could achieve an excellent result in such a fast and explosive time trial prologue, also considering my excellent track cycling skills. I dedicate this victory to my fantastic teammates and in general to the entire team. We are truly a united and cohesive group and the excellent results we have been achieving for some time now prove it."

The mayor of Frattamaggiore Luigi Del Prete and vice mayor Michele Granata participated in the rich prize ceremonies, while the president of the Italian Cycling Federation Cordiano Dagnoni wanted to send a video message praising the organizers of this fantastic edition of the "Mediterranean Tour in Pink".

Today will be the turn of the Crispano-Santa Maria a Vico stage of 81.2 kilometers (plus 5 kilometers of transfer), characterized by a flat section of 30.7 kilometers and a final circuit, 6650 meters long to be repeated seven times. Precisely in the concluding laps, particularly technical, the most significant challenges will be concentrated, with the climb towards the GPM of Santa Maria a Vico that could cause considerable selection. The checkered flag that will give the official start to the competition will be lowered at 13:30 from via Pizzo delle Canne in Crispano (NA), while the final finish line will be located in Piazza Roma, the beating heart of Santa Maria a Vico (CE).

Crispano is a municipality of 11,555 inhabitants, located in the northern area of the Naples metropolitan city. The town rises in the center of the so-called Campania Felix, a plain historically known for its fertility. Since ancient times the area has attracted settlements of Etruscans, Greeks, Oscans and Samnites. The patron saint of the municipality is Saint Gregory the Great, whose feast day falls on March 12. Among the main places of worship and historical interest stands out the Church of San Gregorio Magno. Patron festivities and cultural initiatives keep alive the sense of belonging, passing down the agricultural and artisanal roots of the territory. Crispano is historically linked to the traditional 'Festa dei Gigli', a folkloric celebration deeply felt in the surrounding territory. The squares and gathering areas, such as Piazza Falcone e Borsellino, offer spaces for daily meetings for families and citizens of all ages.

Santa Maria a Vico is a municipality of 14,400 inhabitants, located in the province of Caserta. Originally born as a military settlement in Roman times on the Appian Way, it experienced a period of great artistic and urban splendor in the fifteenth century, under the Aragonese dynasty. The Basilica of Maria SS. Assunta and the Aragonese complex are the beating heart and symbol of Santa Maria a Vico. The basilica also houses the ancient statue of the Assumption of Mary, patroness of the city, and is the center of local devotion. The town's squares host numerous bronze sculptures dedicated to traditional trades, enriching urban spaces together with the characteristic 'barrel houses'. Historical reenactments, such as the famous 'Aragonese Procession' and the traditional 'Mastro Mercato', keep the identity of the village alive by celebrating the glories of the past.
