Six seasons after his debut as one of the most promising riders in the Spanish cycling scene and his transition to professional cycling with the Caja Rural-Seguros RGA development team, Marc Brustenga (Santa Eulàlia de Ronçana, 1999) is returning to the structure that helped launch his career to the highest levels.

Since then, the Catalan rider has gained valuable experience at the top of professional cycling. After two seasons in the WorldTour with Lidl-Trek, he moved to Equipo Kern Pharma, where he has raced for the last three years, continuing his development. During this period, he has expanded his racing profile, establishing himself as one of the most interesting Spanish riders for bunch finishes, thanks to a finishing kick that goes beyond the characteristics of a pure sprinter.

Brustenga has proven himself to be a versatile rider, capable of tackling demanding courses and remaining competitive in selective finishes. This combination of endurance and speed has allowed him to achieve numerous notable placings throughout his career; a consistency finally rewarded this season with his first professional victory at the Classic Adélie de Vitré. In the French race, he perfectly interpreted a fast and tricky circuit, securing a well-deserved sprint victory.

With his return, Caja Rural-Seguros RGA welcomes a twenty-six-year-old rider who is entering a crucial phase of his career. His familiarity with the team environment, combined with the experience gained in the WorldTour and in recent seasons among the professionals, makes him a valuable addition, capable of contributing both in terms of results and team work, while continuing to develop his potential within the team for at least the next two seasons.

Having already been part of the team in the past, what drove you to return?
«In recent years I have seen how the Caja Rural-Seguros RGA structure has grown constantly, and I believe it is now one of the best teams at ProTeam level. For a rider, this is a fundamental aspect: being able to count on such a solid structure behind you is important to continue growing».

What do you think you can bring to the team, both in racing and off the bike?

«In racing, I believe I can bring calm and experience to the classics and one-day races, particularly those on the French and Belgian calendars, for example. Off the bike, I hope to be a good friend and teammate, someone you enjoy spending time with and who contributes to creating a more serene atmosphere».

What memories do you have of your time with the development team? How has Marc changed since then?
«I have excellent memories of my time with the development team. After all, it was thanks to that experience that I managed to transition to professional cycling, and I will always be grateful for it. I would say those were the years when I enjoyed cycling the most. Now I would like to experience something similar again: to enjoy professional cycling just as I enjoyed racing as an amateur»
