Bad luck continues to plague the Giro della Lunigiana. After yesterday's stage suspension due to bad weather, the Portofino–Chiavari stage has met the same fate: the race was neutralized at the intermediate sprint located 20 km from the finish, due to a landslide that occurred near Chiavari, making it impossible to continue along the original route.

The organizers therefore decided to end the stage at the intermediate sprint point. At that passage, the Belgian Seff Van Kerckhove was leading, ahead of his compatriot Vic De Smet and the Emilian rider Luca Fabbri.

However, the International Jury discovered that only the Belgian riders had been informed of the validity of the intermediate sprint as the actual finish line. This inconsistent communication led to an inevitable decision: cancel this stage as well, without assigning classifications or times.

The Lunigiana thus remains waiting for a true green light to race, hoping that the weather and track conditions will finally allow a regular stage to be held.
Tomorrow two half-stages are scheduled: the Fivizzano-Marina di Massa of 54.6 km, and the Vezzano Ligure-Riomaggiore of 45.8 km with a hilltop finish. On Sunday, the conclusion with the Castelnuovo Magra › Casano di Luni of 108 km.
